About ArtTrader Magazine

Magazine Information

ArtTrader Magazine is a free web based publication (PDF) that focuses on mail art such as artist trading cards (ATCs and ACEOs), journals, chunky pages, inchies and other altered art items. The publication features a wide variety of “how-to” articles as well as interviews with established and new artists from the traditional to the outsider styles. ArtTrader Magazine is published quarterly (January, April, July and October) in PDF format only though some articles and columns do appear on our website.

Our Workshops

ArtTrader Magazine provides online workshops for the art hobbyist as well as more seasoned artists. Workshops generally run 2 – 8 weeks (we call them modules) in length and come with online video and PDF workbooks for the attendees. Attendees are encouraged to participate in workshop forums and interact with other students and instructors to get the most out of the learning experience. Our programs are all “work at your own pace.”

Our Audience

ArtTrader is geared toward artists of all levels who enjoy trading mail art and creating altered art and other items. Our articles and workshops focus on new to intermediate level artists though we are also a good source of info for more established or professional artists who want to have fun with mixed media and collage. Our magazine may contain artistic nudity and mature themes.

We would like to thank all of our past magazine contributors (especially Dana Driscoll, Amy Sargent and Brittany Noethen) as well as the many artists and writers who have submitted their articles for publication. There are too many to list and you’re all awesome.

Want to join our (all voluntary) Magazine Team? There’s no pay – just sayin’ up front! It’s a free PDF after all. If that hasn’t put you off then here are the details: we’re looking for writers who can submit mail art or “how-to” articles, either on a regular basis or occasionally. We also need graphic design help though Adobe InDesign layout experience is a must for that one. Please use our contact form to send us your info or have a look on our Submission Guidelines page for more details.
