About the Workshop: This online workshop will focus on creating mixed media fantasy art and will cover a wide range of fantasy themes including landscapes, castles, fairies, wizards and elves! Each week, you will be creating a new canvas project (canvas size is up to you) with a fantasy themed element. The projects focus on hand drawn, mixed media and collage mediums for an interesting mix of ideas and styles.

Program Level: This workshop is for new artists as well as those with more experienced art skills who want to expand their abilities in mixed media.

We have a forum and user galleries for all participants to interact with each other and the program instructors. Work at your own pace! Instructors are always available for one-on-one help and critique.

Week 1: Intro to Fantasy & Landscapes

• Craft grade acrylic paint (or artist grade if you prefer)
• Watercolor paints or pencils
• Markers & colored pencils
• Glitter markers
• White gel pen (Sakura Gellyroll is a good one)
• Inking pens or Micron
• Bristol board and/or watercolor paper
• Canvas or thick illustration board (size is up to you though we recommend 8 x 10)
• Various collage images (fantasy related: wings, insects, flowers, dragons, etc.)
• Decorative or scrapbooking papers
• Tissue papers
• Ribbons and other ephemera
• Gel medium (matte)
• Beeswax
• Glue (white school glue or UHU clear)
• Paintbrushes of various sizes
• Fixative spray (ie Krylon Matte)
• Sealing Spray (ie Varnish)

Cancellation Policy: A full refund, less $10 administration fee, will be given for cancellations up to one day prior to the start date of each program (July 25, 2010). There will be no refunds given on or after the start date of our online workshop (July 26, 2010).
